What we collect
Your email address and name, to run your account. Your date of birth if you give it, to check you are old enough. The picture you choose. Your records, with the shop, the amount, the date, the note and the tags you gave them, and the accounts, balances, budgets, goals, debts and subscriptions behind them: they are kept on your phone and on your account, so a new phone has them. Your Ask Peeka chats, on any plan and whether or not you turned OpenAI on, so they follow you across devices.
If you link a partner or join a scoreboard, your display name and your picture, your streak days, counts and the category totals you switched on, and each record you mark shared with your partner; choosing to appear anonymously keeps your picture off the scoreboard.
Anything you post on the wish list, which is a public board everyone using Peeka can read. A small black and white copy of your receipt photos, only if you turn on Back up receipts. Anonymous crash reports, and a count of which screens you open and which buttons you tap, with no amounts attached, unless you switch them off; those counts go both to our own server and to Google Analytics, and one switch stops both.
What we never collect
Bank or card logins. Card numbers, beyond the last four digits you type yourself to tell your own cards apart. Your contacts. Your location. Advertising identifiers: Peeka never asks to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and the advertising id that Google's analytics library would otherwise ask your phone for is taken out of the app.
Anything from other apps on your phone, except the bank alerts you ask Peeka to read: with Bank messages on under Settings, it reads the notifications of the apps you tick (Android) or the messages a Shortcut or a share hands it (iPhone), on your phone, and keeps only what it read as a payment for you to confirm. The text of a bank message, pasted or handed over: Peeka reads it on your phone, keeps what it found, and leaves the message itself here.
Receipt photos, unless you ask for them: a receipt is always read on this phone, and the picture stays on it unless you turn on Back up receipts under Settings › Permissions, which copies it to a folder in your own account that only you can open.
Where it lives
On your phone, and on your Peeka Money account with Supabase, our database provider, in London. Your records are ordinary data in that account, not sealed with a key: what keeps them yours is that only your account may read them, and your partner sees only what you share. Like any company running a database, we hold the keys to the database itself, and we look at what is in it only when you ask us to help with a problem.
Encrypted backups are the sealed part: they are closed on your phone before they reach your account, and your account keeps the key that opens them sealed with your password, so we cannot open either. If you forget your password, your twelve recovery words open your backups.
Chat with Ask Peeka
Most questions are answered on your phone. On Peeka Money Plus, and only after you turn it on, a question Peeka cannot answer alone goes to OpenAI, the company that runs the AI model, with the spending details needed to answer it (amounts, dates, categories and merchant names).
Every three days it also sends OpenAI a summary for Peeka's suggestions: totals by category and month, account balances, your subscriptions, how your goals and debts are going and the names needed for them, never your individual records. OpenAI does not use this data to train its models and may keep it for up to 30 days to prevent abuse. Turn it off any time in Settings, and nothing more is sent to OpenAI.
Your Ask Peeka chats are saved to your Peeka Money account so they follow you across your devices. Clearing the chat on Home moves it to Settings › Ask history; deleting it there deletes it on every device, a day nobody adds to for thirty days is deleted by itself, and the chats are never used for anything else. Apart from the chats themselves, we keep only a count of chat messages and their cost.
Your watch
Peeka Money on an Apple Watch, a Pixel Watch or a Samsung watch does one thing: it catches a spend so you can confirm it on your phone. The watch and the phone talk to each other directly, over the link the two devices already have, and nothing they say to each other touches a network, a server or your account.
Where the watch can turn speech into words by itself it does that on the watch. Where it cannot, it keeps the sound on the watch until your phone has it, and your phone reads the sound on the phone, with no upload. The sound is deleted as soon as you confirm the record or throw the row away, and it is never included in a backup.
Your watch is told the same handful of figures the home screen widget gets and no more: your month total, your streak and which of the last seven days had a record in them. It is never told a merchant, a single amount or your records. Settings, Your watch turns the whole thing off.
Who else handles it
Supabase stores your account.
Google Analytics counts which screens you open and which buttons you tap: Google is given those counts, a random app-instance id it makes for itself, and the ordinary technical details any app sends: your device model, your operating system version, your language, and the country the request came from. It is never given your name, your email, your Peeka account id, an advertising identifier, or anything at all about your money. Settings › Privacy & data › Anonymous usage counts stops it, and Google then collects nothing.
OpenAI answers chat questions and writes Peeka's suggestions, only if you turned that on. The App Store or Google Play processes payments, and RevenueCat tells us which plan that leaves you on: it is given a random id for your account and what the store said, never your records. None of them may use your data for anything but providing that service to Peeka Money.
Exchange rates come from Frankfurter, a free rates service: the request carries only currency codes, though like any request over the internet it reaches them from your phone's IP address. Your watch adds nobody: it talks only to your phone.
Payments
The App Store or Google Play processes every payment. We never see your card. We receive a receipt that tells us which plan is active and until when, and nothing else.
Deleting
Settings › Account & data › Account & plan › Delete your Peeka account signs you out on every phone and takes you out of your household and off your friends’ scoreboards at once.
Everything else in your account, including your records, chats, backups and receipt photos, is kept for 30 days: sign in within that time and choose Restore my account to bring it all back. After 30 days it is deleted for good. Export first if you want to keep a copy; we will remind you.
